Markus Kolland started his career in 1990 at Siemens AG, Corporate Research & Development, in Munich, where he was member of the staff and later head of the “Distributed Systems” research group, responsible for acquisition and realization of R&D/T projects.
In 1997 he moved to DaimlerChrysler Aerospace in Ulm where he took over the position of COO and Managing Director of Telefunken Radio Communication Systems GmbH, a subsidiary specialized in military radio communication systems.
Following the integration of the business segment into EADS (European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company) in 2002, Dr. Kolland was promoted Vice President "Engineering and Technology" in the newly created business line “Communication, Command and Control Systems".
In the course of the creation of CASSIDIAN – the EADS division specialized in defense and security - and after an internal merger of the military and public safety communication business lines in 2009, Dr. Kolland was nominated CEO of CASSIDIAN Communications GmbH, the CASSIDIAN subsidiary specialized in marketing, sales, implementation and operations of mission critical communications systems addressing customer segments in public safety, defense, transport, utilities and industry in the DACH region. Besides other references, Cassidian Communications GmbH is prime contractor of the digital radio system for the German army (CRF), the German security forces (BOSNET) and technology provider to POLYCOM, the Suisse public safety network.
Until the end of 2014 Dr. Kolland was concurrently acting as the CEO of Airbus Defense & Space Cybersecurity GmbH, a subsidiary specialized in cybersecurity solutions for governments and operators of critical infrastructures in the DACH region.
In October 2015 following the carve-out of the business comprising mission critical communications systems as fully-owned subsidiary of Airbus Defense & Space (Airbus DS Secure Land Communications), Dr. Kolland was promoted Head of Region Europe, where he is responsible for a P&L comprising all business of the new entity in Europe and Africa.
Markus Kolland has a PhD in computer science of the Technical University in Munich and is a member of the German Association of computer science (GI) and the AFCEA chapter Munich.
