26 - 28 November
In 2019, the PMRExpo Show was hosting more than 230 national and international exhibitors. In addition to a wide range of innovative products and services in the field of secure communications, visitors could also take advantage of the forums and Speakers’ Corners. Join us to identify and discuss new trends with the industry’s leading experts. The focal points of the presentations were as broad as the industry itself.
Located in the middle of the vehicle exhibition, the Connecting Area offers visitors plenty of space to meet with business partners for a coffee or snack. Enjoy the trade fair activities in the lounge-like atmosphere with a view of the latest emergency vehicles. Just a few steps away, in the Forum, you are sure to find a presentation that addresses your particular interests. This year, the Speakers’ Corner will be held in the same space for the first time. Here, companies will present new products for secure communications.
“Both qualitatively and quantitatively, the leads we gained at PMRExpo 2018 surpasses all previous years. And the leads spanned the globe, from Iceland to Turkey. We spoke to people from all over Europe, especially Scandinavia and Central and Eastern Europe. We have benefited hugely from PMRExpo’s vast internationalisation.”
“PMRExpo was a great success. For another year running, we spoke with significantly more customers and partners than at the previous year’s event. On top of this, PMRExpo is almost like a family meeting for the industries, with many familiar faces and discussions with customers about market developments as well as day-to-day business. We’ve also had many international customers and colleagues at our stand, but it goes without saying that our main focus is on the German market. Nonetheless, we have gained more international customers.”
“PMRExpo is very important for us as it enables us to meet very highly qualified people. These contacts approach us with the intention of holding in-depth discussions which continue long term. This was our fourth time here and we were as pleased as ever with the support provided by EW Medien und Kongresse GmbH as well as the top-quality equipment and the team’s professionalism.”
“PMRExpo is an extremely important event for pei tel. We support the trade fair and we’ve had a stall here for many years. Logically, we present products which we need to adapt to the market. We all know that the Tetra market in Germany is undergoing a transformation. We’re also aware that the fair is developing from a regional into a global trade fair. From this perspective, we’re eager to support and boost this change.” / “We have joined forces with PMeV once again. For us this is an important venue to exchange information and bring in the new generation of technology. We just want to be part of this.”
“PMRExpo is the main trade fair for those of us in the radio communications business. It is constantly growing, hugely attractive, and draws everyone from decision-makers to end users. For us, the fair is unmissable.”
“We had excellent discussions and considerable footfall. Even though BOS continues to dominate, we’re reaching an increasing number of industries and operators of critical infrastructures at PMRExpo. I was also pleased to note that the talk programme has improved and become more practice-oriented. PMRExpo is an ideal platform for adding new companies to our personal network.”
“Founded in 2015 as the German subsidiary of an American company, we are still very young. We’re attending PMRExpo for the first time this year to establish relationships and meet new and interesting contacts. PMRExpo was ideal for this. We are very pleased.”
“This our third year running at PMRExpo. For us it’s the perfect platform. The quantity and quality of visitors were exceptional once again in 2018! As well as emergency services, PMRExpo is allowing us to reach more and more energy providers, airports and other companies.”
“There has been a constant flow of visitors since the trade fair started, just like in years gone by. We haven’t had a single moment without someone visiting our stall, so we’re happy. The fair has got bigger to the point the stalls fill the hall. I keep hearing positive feedback and everyone seems to be looking forward to returning to PMRExpo next year. It has also become a very important point of networking within BOS. People meet here and converse, something which doesn’t seem to happen enough and people obviously only meet here once a year. We’ve been left only with positive impressions and we’ll be back next year!”
The PMRExpo 2019 was a top worldwide event with global reach: on 26-28 November 2019, more than 230 national and international exhibitors from 22 countries and all continents gathered in Cologne to present their businesses across an exhibition space of some 4,900 square metres and close to 4.600 visitors.
Progress is being made in regard to integrating different network technologies. Hybrid solutions are the key: the highly available and secure public safety digital radio network based on the TETRA standard and broadband communication are converging. Hybrid voice and messenger services can be used equally on smartphones and TETRA end devices, and information can be easily exchanged between both devices. Police officers using TETRA devices can securely communicate professionally with a doctor using a smartphone. Applications form the link between the old system and the new TETRA world. At the Emergency Services Forum, experts will present and discuss developments and the future of communication for safety and security services without (network) boundaries.
The energy utilities industry is part of the critical infrastructure. Therefore, mission critical communication is used to ensure ongoing operation. The energy industry is also planning to use, or to completely switch to broadband mobile radio. Any broadband mobile radio solution must meet the mission critical requirements. This forum discusses these requirements and solutions.
We look forward to welcoming you in the Connecting Area at the end of the first day. Meet business partners and decision-makers from the industry with live music and chilled drinks, and enjoy the unique atmosphere amidst the impressive vehicle exhibition at PMRExpo.
This forum on the specialist field of object supply in the PMeV deals with current developments in object supply. This includes changes to the specifications for the planning,
installation and operation of object radio systems from Federal Agency for Digital Radio of Security Authorities and Organisations (BDBOS) and state agencies. In addition, it deals with new possibilities for connection in the context of the BOSNet to IP conversion and reports on the establishment of metropolitan concepts in the urban environment.
A notification procedure is to be carried out for object radio systems in emergency services digital radio. The notification process is the basis for commissioning by the BDBOS. In the workshop, the authority would like to familiarise planners and installers of object radio systems and the representatives of the federal states involved with the notification process and radio engineering challenges during commissioning. In consultation with the PMeV and the BODeV, participation in the workshop is considered a prerequisite for obtaining the seal of quality awarded by the associations.

Replacing the 20 kHz channel bandwidth is a much debated issue. Hence, this year’s Specialist Trade Forum will focus on the subject of private mobile radio frequencies. What should users expect? How can additional spectrum be generated? Will there still be frequencies for analogue radio in future? These issues don’t just concern the specialist trade. A representative of the German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) will offer a constructive perspective on these and other questions in a discussion with participants. Insight will be provided into the requirements and general conditions of frequency planning, current developments and statistics of the Federal Network Agency and plans to make the fixed allocation of frequencies to essential users more flexible.
The ETSI DMR standards are being regularly updated with new features. In this presentation Tom Johnson discusses the latest additions to the ETSI TS 102 361 DMR standards suite and looks in detail at some of the powerful new features including USBD data polling which allows for example up-to 1000 location reports per minute to be received on a DMR Tier 3 control channel, talk-group subscription and attachment features and data/voice encryption.
