PMRExpo 2019: an event with global reach
The PMRExpo 2019 was a top worldwide event with global reach: on 26-28 November 2019, more than 230 national and international exhibitors from 22 countries and all continents gathered in Cologne to present their businesses across an exhibition space of some 4,900 square metres. Products and presentations at the PMRExpo 2019 were characterised by diversity, technical change and technological openness. The clear internationalisation of the PMRExpo is also reflected in the new record number of close to 4,600 visitors from security authorities and organisations (BOS), the industry, and sectors ranging from energy and passenger transport to logistics and the specialist trade. Jens Lampe (Phonak Communications) summarises the development of the PMRExpo from the perspective of exhibitors: ‘The trade fair continues to expand on an international level beyond the boundaries of Europe. We have noted a strong increase in visitors from outside of Europe.’
PMRExpo 2019: the leading European trade fair is ready for take-off
PMRExpo 2019 is ready for take-off: from 26 to 28 November 2019, the leading European trade fair for secure communications will welcome exhibitors and visitors from all over the world to the Koelnmesse, the exhibition grounds in Cologne. Over the course of the three days, over 230 exhibitors from Germany and across the globe will present their products over an area of 4,900 m². 88 international exhibitors from 21 countries and all five continents will take part. PMRExpo is a top global event in the sector. Over 4,300 visitors from Security Authorities and Organisations (BOS), the industry, energy sector, passenger transport, logistics and specialist trade are expected to attend PMRExpo at the Koelnmesse.
The specialist forums: a key to the success of the PMRExpo
In 2019, the PMRExpo will again expand and underscore its claim to be a top global event of the sector. Exhibitors from across the world will present products, solutions and the latest innovations in the field of secure communication and professional mobile communication at the PMRExpo. An extensive programme of presentations complementing the exhibition will once again ensure the success of PMRExpo. A key element of this success are our specialist forums. The five specialist forums which will take place across the three days of PMRExpo are organised as open, freely accessible information events held in a central venue in the Forum in the centre of the exhibition (Stand C23). Experience and know-how will be presented and discussed at the following 2019 forums: Emergency Services Forum, Mission-Critical Broadband Forum for Electricity Suppliers (in English), Radio Systems Forum, Specialist Trade Forum and DMR Forum (in English).
Summit Secure Communication | Focus: Command and Control Centres: Overview of the topics for discussion
At the Summit Secure Communication from 26th–28th November, experts at the PMRExpo 2019 will offer knowledgeable insights into the latest trends and innovations in security-critical communication. In addition to the usual presentations, interactive themed tables and discussion panels with more than 30 experts will be offered for the first time. The key topics include cybercrime, broadband communication, the use of drones and cloud-based demand and control centres.
Energy Industry Symposium: Challenges for companies in regard to security-critical communication
The Energy Industry Symposium will take place on 27 November at PMRExpo 2019 at Koelnmesse. The symposium is aimed at representatives of energy suppliers and municipal utilities and will examine issues of security-critical communication from the sector’s perspective. Matthias Lampe (KAITEC GmbH), moderator of the symposium, describes the challenges the sector currently faces in regard to security-critical communication: ‘Especially for companies whose core business - such as securing the energy supply - absolutely relies on secure (mobile) communication, the current situation appears diffuse. The only systems for mobile, mission-critical TETRA and DMR communication currently available do not offer adequate data transmission rates for broadband applications. Whether frequencies will be available in Germany in future for private mission-critical 4G or 5G systems to replace the TETRA and DMR systems is not yet clear.’ For the time being, frequencies for digital bundle radio systems in the 410 to 430 MHz range are being allocated only up to the end of 2025.
