Herman van Sprakelaar is currently one of the Project Manager for NOOVA project from the Ministry of Security and Justice. This nationwide PPDR program is working on the preparation, definition and procurement of a new solution based upon the 3GPP mission critical standard for mission critical services
His home organization is the Dutch National Police, where the Shared Services Centre and Control Rooms and Communications (MDC), is the operator and service provider for the C2000 system in the Netherlands, which offers nationwide services to all police, fire brigade, ambulance and military police organizations. This department is responsible for the C2000 system architecture and product management and product development. A team of highly skilled professionals is working on the RF, Tetra and control room aspects from the C2000 system.
After his study in Electronics in the Institute of Technology Herman started his career in 1991 in the radio communications department from the Dutch police as engineer. After a few years in data communications Herman returned in 1998 to his roots: radio communication. From that moment on he was involved in the C2000 project.
Because C2000 was one of the early adapters from the TETRA technology, the Netherlands Police is involved in a lot of international contacts and meetings, and also active in the 3GGP work concerning public safety features within the LTE standard
Herman is representative for the Netherlands in the TCCA/CCBG. A meeting of a lot of European countries and organizations which are involved in the mobile broadband developments for public safety.
